This is without doubt the oldest door knocker we have ever listed. It could be the oldest anything we have listed. We will stick our collective necks out and say that this old cast iron knocker is Georgian as in George III (1760 â 1820). In the past someone has removed the knocker from (presumably) it`s door by sawing through the mounting studs close to the face of the door. We have re-threaded the left over stubs and fitted extension sleeves. Supplied with long replacement fixing studs suitable for doors up to 7 cm in thickness. Longer studs available on request. In excellent overall condition with some pitting to the knocker arm. A rare and genuine antique. Free maintenance document ion included. The finishing touch to your Georgian town house.
