bullet  Iron Door Knocker, fake or repro

back one page
go to the beginning of category: Door Knockers
A fake is something that is trying to be something that it is not in order to fool you. A reproduction on the other hand makes no attempt at such a deception. Is this a repro` or fake? Here is another example of buying something as genuine, early on a dark morning at a well known race course in the London area (duh!) . The casting is good with one small casting flaw (or is it an attempt at `age related damage`) It is marked to the back of the knocker arm with an unreadable registered design lozenge and the number `405` which is the catalogue number for this design from Archibald Kenrick. We are not in any way suggesting that this is the product of that maker. There is no doubt that the design is by the famous Dr Christopher Dresser. `Genuine` examples of this knocker from a renowned maker like Kenrick can cost GBP100.00 or more from some of the more `adventurous` dealers out there. Once again, we are not suggesting that this is either antique or in any way an original product from a known maker. It is too good to throw away and quite frankly once it`s installed nobody will ever be able to tell the difference. Price shown covers the original outlay and some postage. Includes all required fixings and care instructions
