bullet  Brass Door Knocker, Kenrick, unique

back one page
go to the beginning of category: Door Knockers
This knocker started out in life with a nice layer of protective chrome plating. Then, for some reason, someone with the apparent attention span of a fish tried to strip off the chrome to get at the brass below. They soon discovered that a sanding disk or whatever it was they used was not the way to go and the knocker was consigned to the `boot sale box`. After it was rescued by us and a year long residency in the Silbury Antiques polishing shop we finally got [most of] the chrome off. It didn't take an actual year of course, just a few minutes attention each time the polishing wheel was started up. Anyway here it is in all it's shiny glory. A genuine Kenrick by the looks of things with an RD diamond mark for June (K), 1883 (M) which is of course the date the design was registered and not necessarily the date the item was cast. Supplied complete with 2 long replacement fixing studs, some surface character extant.
