Unusual Brass Catch, Quality Item

A most unusual heavily cast solid brass catch of some description. The male part having no securing holes we are uncertain what this device was originally intended for. It is however extremely good quality, with a good strong spring and a satisfying click as the handle engages one of three register marks. Would make a most unusual WC catch with a little bit of imagination and a couple of holes.
