Antique rim deadlock, iron and brass double locking
What can only be described as an extraordinary lock.
Very heavy at over 2.3 KG with a solid brass double locking deadbolt.
Fully restored and in full working order with a hand crafted wrought iron bespoke keep and a reworked period key. We're as sure as we can be given the worn manufacturers mark that this lock was made by C Smith and son of Birmingham who was known for the manufacture of high quality prison cell locks which would explain the numbering. In excellent condition with a modicum of hand finishing marks to the case. Estimated manufacturing date late 19th century (1879 on)
